Authentic Homemade Recipe for Soft Bread with Hard Flour and Yeast – The Perfect Balance of Flavor and Texture for Your Everyday Table
Ingredients:
- 500 g hard flour
- 1 packet (7 g) dry yeast or 25 g fresh yeast
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 300 ml lukewarm water
- 2 tbsp olive oil (optional)
Instructions:
- Activate the yeast (if using fresh or dry yeast):
- In a bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in 100 ml of lukewarm water.
- Let the mixture sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- Prepare the dough:
- In a large bowl, mix the flour and salt.
- Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture (or the yeast directly if not activated), the remaining water, and olive oil.
- Knead the dough well until it becomes smooth and elastic (about 10 minutes by hand or 5-7 minutes with a mixer).
- First rise:
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a clean towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours until it doubles in size.
- Shape the dough:
- Remove the dough from the bowl and knead it lightly to release the air.
- Shape it as desired (e.g., a loaf or bread rolls) and place it on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
- Allow it to rise again for 30-40 minutes.
- Bake:
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F) on conventional mode.
- Bake the bread for 30-40 minutes or until golden brown and hollow-sounding when tapped on the bottom.
- For a crispier crust, place a small container of water in the oven during baking.
- Cool:
- Transfer the bread to a wire rack and let it cool before slicing.
