Ingredients for homemade Greek meatballs (keftedes)
4-6 portions
- 800g ground beef
- 200g ground pork
- 6 slices of stale bread
- Salt-Pepper
- 2 eggs
- 1 onion
- 1 tbsp of fresh parsley
- 1 tbsp of fresh mint
- 1 tbsp of oregano
- 100g of olive oil
- Flour for cooking
- Olive oil or vegetable seed oil for frying
Method
To make homemade Greek meatballs, follow the procedure below.
Soak the bread in a bowl filled with water for around 10 minutes. Grate the onions through a grater.
Take a small container and add all the ingredients above (the bread should retain its moisture) and knead very well.
Put the mixture in the fridge for around 30 minutes. Pour the oil into a deep pan and let it heat.
Shape your meatballs and dredge in the flour. Once the oil gets hot, place them in.
Once they catch a golden brown color, turn them from the other side.
The meatballs will be ready once they turn golden brown. Take them off and transfer on a absorbent paper.
Easy, fast and totally delicious Greek meatballs! Serve alone or with red tomato sauce and french fries.
